Event narrative

Snow noticeably began to pick up across the Central Cascades shortly after midnight on February 25th and continued through daybreak on the 26th. During a 24 hour period from roughly 7am on the 25th to 7am on the 26th, Stevens Pass reported around 20 inches if new snow.

Wider weather episode

Strong cyclonic flow was present over the Pacific Northwest on February 25, with a strong jet streak in place at 250mb to aid in ascent as several small perturbations affected the region within the strong cyclonic flow. This would be sufficient to help enhance snowfall over the Cascades.
