Snow developed across the the Piedmont and foothills of western North Carolina during the evening of the 6th and continued into the overnight hours before tapering off or changing to rain during the early morning of the 7th. Total snow accumulations generally ranged from 1 to 3 inches across the area, with some locally higher amounts of around 4 inches reported. The snow briefly changed to sleet and freezing rain in some areas before the precipitation ended, but accumulations were minimal.
