A severe squall line moved across the area during the afternoon and evening hours, producing mainly wind damage with gusts of 40-60 mph. A strong shortwave moved across the Southeast region which drove a mature squall line toward the local area. Steep mid level lapse rates due to drier air aloft and strong low level winds created high DCAPE values which combined to produce strong wind gusts as the broken squall line moved across the area.
