Event narrative

Due to a lack of significant rainfall, Severe (D2) Drought persisted across central portions of Coastal Kenedy County.

Wider weather episode

Largely rain-free conditions continued into early March for much of Deep South Texas, maintaining Severe (D2) to Extreme Drought (D3) in many areas. Extreme drought continued across much of the Ranchlands as well as Starr and Zapata Counties, with Severe drought persisting across much of the Lower Rio Grande Valley as well as portions of Kenedy, Coastal Kenedy, Willacy, and Cameron Counties. Severe to Extreme Drought would gradually cover a bit more area mainly along and east of IH-69C (Brooks/Hidalgo th points east) through mid month.
