A retired National Weather Service employee reported hail as big as golf balls on Chestatee Point on Lake Lanier.

A mid-level short wave, and an associated surface low and cold, front swept through the region. A moderately unstable airmass ahead of this system helped to fuel scattered severe thunderstorms across north Georgia during the afternoon and into the evening.
