NOAA Buoy 41009, located 25 miles offshore Port Canaveral, recorded a peak wind of 41 knots as a strong thunderstorm crossed the platform.

The wider storm

Numerous thunderstorms affected the coastal waters offshore Cape Canaveral during the early morning hours. One of the storms located 25 miles east of Port Canaveral produced winds over 40 knots.
