Event narrative

Four people were rescued from the surf by at least 7 lifeguards near Ocean Hammock Park. It took 20 minutes to rescue everyone. One person needed medical attention and was transported to a hospital.

Wider weather episode

Persistent easterly winds combined with elevated surf over the weekend created a High Rip Current risk along local NE FL beaches and resulted in numerous ocean rescues.
