What EF0 means. On the Enhanced Fujita scale, EF0 is light damage: shingles and siding peeled, gutters torn, branches broken, consistent with estimated gusts of 65–85 mph. The rating comes from a survey of the worst damage after the storm, not from a wind measurement, so it says as much about what the tornado hit as about how strong it was.

What the National Weather Service wrote

Waterspout moved onshore across Morehead City Country Club and tracked southeast for less than one half mile before dissipating. Several trees were blown down, an outbuilding also had its roof blown off. The tornado was rated as an EF0.

The wider storm

Numerous thunderstorms developed near the coast of eastern North Carolina during the late afternoon and evening hours ahead of a cold front. Unstable air ahead of the cold front combined with strong wind shear to produce rotating thunderstorms and several tornadoes were reported near the south coast in parts of Onslow...Jones and Carteret counties.

Began near Crab Pt Vlg (34.7450, -76.7520).
