2021-06-01 · near Dilia, Guadalupe, New Mexico
Event narrative

Wider weather episode
After several days of moist, low-level easterly flow across eastern New Mexico, that trend finally diminished as winds across the area became more variable. With an area of high pressure building over the Rockies, drier air began to filter into the area which lessened storm coverage on June 1, 2021. Still, enough moisture and instability continued to allow for thunderstorms with isolated severe thunderstorms for areas along and east of the central mountain chain. The strongest thunderstorms for the day were located across south central and east central New Mexico where nickel to quarter size hail was reported. Minor home damage was also reported in Dilia with the large hail.
