A thunderstorm produced a 62 mph wind gust nine miles east of Kent.

Wider weather episode

An upper level ridge was centered over the Rocky Mountains. Low-level moisture was marginal across West Texas but instability was high. There were thunderstorm outflow boundaries across the area. These conditions resulted in a thunderstorm that produced a strong wind gust in the Davis Mountains area.
