Event narrative

Hundreds of trees were blown down in the Chilco area in Kootenai County. A shop and a few outbuildings were damaged. There were recorded wind gusts 40-50 mph at numerous nearby RAWS and Mesonet sites.

Wider weather episode

A robust cold front, accompanied by strong north to northeast winds, passed through the northern Idaho Panhandle on April 18th. Evening winds reached gusts in the range of 40-60 mph.
