Event narrative

A wind gust of 37 knots from the north-northeast was recorded at a WeatherFlow mesonet station at the Florida Keys Electric Cooperative Tavernier Substation.

Wider weather episode

A large mesoscale convective system propagating southward from the central Florida peninsula initiated a large outflow boundary that pushed southward throughout the Florida Keys. Widespread gale-force wind gusts, especially across the coastal waters of the upper and middle Florida Keys, resulted.
