Young woman pulled from Lake Michigan waters at North Beach in Racine WI later succumbed to her drowning injuries.

A young woman pulled from the waters of Lake Michigan in Racine WI died about two weeks later on July 1st. Emergency crews responded to North Beach in Racine late in the afternoon on June 21st, to two teenage girls who were experiencing an emergency in Lake Michigan. The first girl was rescued with cuts and scratches on her body. The second girl received medical attention at the scene and was airlifted to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Emergency officials on the scene noted a strong current appeared to pull the young woman into deeper waters and the rocks next to a break wall at the south end of North Beach.
