Temperatures around 10 degrees above normal, near 95, occurred in southern Cochise County causing the Moderate Heat Risk category to be reached on May 6. The Pima County Medical Examiner confirmed that heat was the primary cause of death for one female found a few days later near the International Border west of Douglas, but the exact date of the fatality was undetermined.
