Virginia City station 3.5 SE Virginia City measured a 55 kt (63 mph) non-thunderstorm wind gust.

Wider weather episode

An upper level closed low moved north through the Northern Rockies into the Canadian Prairies and brought strong westerly winds aloft on the backside of the system. Deep mixing combined with 40 to 50 kt H700 winds were enough to produce a few surface wind gusts at or above 50 kts.
