Event narrative

The Bootleg fire started with a lightning strike around 1:42 PDT on 07/06/21 and grew rapidly, becoming the largest fire of the year thus far in the United States. It merged with the Log fire on 07/20/21 and the former Log fire was included in the Bootleg acreage. On 08/05/21, two more small fires, the Yainax and the Walrus, initiated and were fought by the same units fighting the Bootleg. As of the last report at 0630 PDT on 08/15/21, the Bootleg fire covered 413717 acres and was 100 percent contained. 408 structures were lost, and 100.0 million dollars had been spent on firefighting efforts. As of the last report at 0630 PDT on 08/15/21, the Yainax fire covered 84 acres and was 100 percent contained. 0 structures were lost, and 800 thousand dollars had been spent on firefighting efforts. As of the last report at 0630 PDT on 08/15/21, the Walrus fire covered 75 acres and was 100 percent contained. 0 structures were lost, and 800 thousand dollars had been spent on firefighting efforts.
