Event narrative

The Rafael Fire was started by lightning June 18 and grew to just over 78,000 acres by the end of June. Little if any growth was observed in July before the rainy season started. The fire was located 4 miles north of Perkinsville, Arizona and east of Highway 89 in The Prescott National Forest. There were three other lightning caused fires in the area: Sand Flat, Archibald, and Horney.
