Lorain Harbor C-MAN Station (LORO1) reported a peak gust of 45 mph following passage of downshear gust front and ahead of the associated showers and thunderstorms approaching from the west.
Wider weather episode
A surface front extended generally eastward from southern Lower Michigan and Lake Erie to northwest Pennsylvania and far-southern New York, and moved little during the early afternoon through late evening of the 7th. Clusters of multicell thunderstorms developed along and near the front. The storms moved generally northeastward or eastward over the lake and along the southern lakeshore. These storms produced strong wind gusts as they encountered moderate instability and effective bulk shear, and moderate to strong DCAPE.
