A strong cold front moved through the area, interacting with an unstable air mass that was in place ahead of it. This sparked strong thunderstorms along the front, which produced widespread wind gusts of 50+ mph and a few wind gusts over 58 mph. In addition, there were some strong winds along the front that were not caused by thunderstorm winds.
