Event narrative

The excessive heat on June 26 through 30th brought record breaking high temperatures across the Idaho Palouse. Three towns have new June high temperatures when afternoon highs reached Moscow at 105 degrees, Plummer at 107 degrees, and Potlatch at 107 degrees. There are no known heat-related deaths.

Wider weather episode

A strong dome of hot high pressure over the Inland Northwest pushed afternoon high temperatures into record territory. In late June 2021, a long-lived heatwave broke many daily, monthly, and all time maximum high and low temperature records at several stations.
