Event narrative

Up to 5 inches of rain fell in about a two hour time period causing flash flooding. Numerous roads were flooded including Illinois Route 100 and Route 16 between Nutwood and Fieldon.

Wider weather episode

An outflow boundary from earlier convection moved southward through region, triggering widespread storms. Some of the storms became severe with numerous reports of large hail, damaging winds and flash flooding.
