A wind gust of 38 knots was measured by an automated weather station at a residence on Valencia Drive in Islamorada.
Wider weather episode
A deep upper trough of low pressure extended down the eastern United States into the northeast Gulf of Mexico, with a deep cyclonic gyre in the Bay of Campeche. Numerous showers and thunderstorms developing over Cuba spread north and northeast, producing widespread gale-force wind gusts over the Florida Keys.
