Heavy Rain — Ringgold, Iowa

2021-07-30 to 2021-07-31 · near Beaconsfield, Ringgold, Iowa

Event narrative

A 24 hour rainfall report of 2.62 inches.

Wider weather episode

A quick moving shortwave swept across the area, brining a swath of convection across the state form north to south. By evening the low level jet developed across the area and increased convergence, resulting in reinvigoration of storms along the front. One embedded cell strengthened to produce golf ball sized hail and some tree damage, though the bigger impact was widespread rainfall. Many locations south of I-35 received 2 to 3 inches of rain, however with antecedent drought conditions there was no flash flood impact to the area.
