There were trees and power lines down in Smithfield. Pea sized hail was also found in the area.

In an environment with temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s, dew points in the upper 60s to low 70s, and strong low level instability, a subtle surface trough was able to produce scattered storms across north-central Kentucky. This resulted in downed trees and power lines. Lightning started a fire on a power pole and there was one report of severe hail.
