Event narrative
Up to four inches of rain fell in a short amount of time causing flash flooding, especially in and around Palmyra and Hannibal. Several roads were flooded including the intersection of U.S. Highway 61 and Ross Street in Palmyra. In Hannibal the intersection of Lindell Avenue and Patchen Street was flooded.
Wider weather episode
A mesoscale convective complex moved across portions of eastern Missouri and west central/southwest Illinois. There were several reports of flash flooding, as well as a tornado.
