The southeast portion of the zone started out in Severe(D2) drought and Moderate(D1) drought northwest. On July 6th, the southeast improved to Moderate(D1) drought with no drought conditions northwest.

Wider weather episode

More heavy rain across most of far west Texas helped the entire area improve to Abnormally Dry(D0) or better in the early part of July.
