Wider weather episode
An unstable, hot, and humid environment interacted with a deep upper trough in the Mid-Atlantic to create several severe thunderstorms. CAPE values ranged from 1000 J/kg to 2000 J/kg, and a PWAT of over 1.5 inches reflect a moist and unstable atmospheric profile that was enhanced by upper level support to form severe thunderstorms with strong downdrafts. Winds were strong enough in these storms to bring down numerous trees.
