Event narrative
The entire zone started out the month in Extreme(D3) drought conditions, by the end of the month, the east remained in Extreme(D3) drought but the west improved to Severe(D2) drought. The Buckhorn Cooperative Observer reported 2.88 inches of precipitation which was .52 inches above normal.
Wider weather episode
Most areas of Southern New Mexico received above normal precipitation for the month which improved drought conditions for much of the region.
