Event narrative

Multiple trees were reported down between the towns of Peedee and Mount Gilead.

Wider weather episode

Showers and thunderstorms developed during the mid to late evening hours across portions of central North Carolina, tracking from southwest to northeast along a cold front and trough boundary over the area. . A very moist and unstable airmass was in place south and east of the trough and cold front. This environment led to numerous showers and storms, with several storm cells producing downed trees over the southern Piedmont.
