Moisture associated with the far outer circulation of the remnants of Hurricane Ida resulted in development of numerous rain showers and thunderstorms across the North Carolina foothills during the afternoon. One small line of heavy showers and thunderstorms produced pockets of damaging winds as it moved north-northeast across the area.
