A southeast wind gust of 35 knots was measured by an automated WeatherFlow station at Smith Shoal Light.

Tropical Storm Fred degenerated into an open tropical wave while moving northwest into the offshore southeast Gulf of Mexico waters. Numerous rain bands streamed toward the northwest and through the Florida Keys coastal waters, producing several rounds of gale-force wind gusts.
