An east-southeast wind gust of 36 knots was measured by an automated WeatherFlow station at Smith Shoal Light.

Wider weather episode

Numerous gale-force wind gusts were recorded in association with showers and thunderstorms as a tropical wave moved slowly west through the Florida Keys. The tropical wave became amplified due to a middle-to-upper level trough of low pressure progressing westward in advance.
