Event narrative

A police vehicle was swept away by the swollen Weekeepeemee River at Jack's Bridge, resulting in the death of the Police Sergeant occupying the vehicle.

Wider weather episode

The remnants of Tropical Cyclone Ida resulted in several reports of flash flooding over during the early morning hours of September 2. Rainfall from the evening of the 1st through the early morning hours of the 2nd totaled three to six inches. Several roads were closed as a result of the flooding, and one fatality occurred when a police officer's patrol vehicle was swept away by flood waters.
