Measured gust at the CWOP mesonet station DW6222 at the La Pointe ferry dock.

Wider weather episode

A potent low level jet ahead of an advancing cold front brought a round of thunderstorms to western Lake Superior during the early morning hours of the 7th. In the wake of the cold front later in the day, a deepening surface low brought another round of storms across the lake during the afternoon and evening hours. Both rounds brought sporadic strong winds gusts to the head of the lake area.
