A marine thunderstorm wind gust of 42 mph (36 kt) was measured by the Mesonet station MRCSC located at the Charter Club of Marco Beach on Marco Island.

Wider weather episode

Increasing moisture ahead of an arriving tropical wave along with a broad mid-level trough sparked scattered showers and storms throughout the day. With prevailing easterly steering flow, stronger storms developed across the interior and pushed towards the west coast and Gulf waters by the afternoon hours. Strong winds were the primary hazard.
