A seasonably strong shortwave dug from the northern Great Plains into the Great Lakes by the morning of 9/7, initiating multiple lines of severe storms during the morning and early afternoon across northern Michigan. The first severe storms formed along a warm front mixing north across the CWA while a second line of stormed initiated along a cold front swinging across the state. Multiple hail reports were received with the largest stone measuring 1.75 along with damaging wind gusts experienced across the area.
