Event narrative

Damaging outflow winds from a severe thunderstorm downed numerous trees onto powerlines northwest of Bowdoinham.

Wider weather episode

A sharp cold front moved through Maine on the afternoon of September 6th. Strong dynamics aloft with this early fall trough brought amble amounts of shear to the region. In addition, enough low level instability developed due to very steep lapse rates that allowed for a few storms to became severe with damaging wind gusts across the Mid-coast of Maine and the Kennebec River Valley.
