Event narrative
The Texas Coastal Ocean Observing Network (TCOON) site at Realitos Peninsula (RLIT2) reported a 35 knot (40 mph) wind gust associated with the strong thunderstorms moving eastward across the region at 11:54 AM CST. There were several gusts of 34 knots (39 mph) between 11:54 AM CST and 12:42 PM CST.
Wider weather episode
Gusty showers and thunderstorms, associated with a cold front, moved offshore early in the afternoon on November 18th. Some of these thunderstorms produced strong wind gusts that were recorded at some of the marine observing platforms along the coast between Port Mansfield and the mouth of the Rio Grande.
