Event narrative

Two sites in Orange County broke their daily high temperature record on November 11. Anaheim reached a high temperature of 95 degrees, breaking the old record of 92 set in 1990. Santa Ana recorded a high temperature of 92 degrees, breaking the old record of 90 set in 1986.

Santa Ana recorded a record-breaking high temperature for the second day in a row; it reached a high temperature of 96 degrees, breaking the previous record of 92 degrees set in 1974. Several sites in Orange County broke their overnight highest minimum temperature that day as well, including Newport Beach (65 degrees) and Santa Ana (69 degrees).

Wider weather episode

The fifth Santa Ana wind episode of the season and record heat were recorded November 11-16. Also, widespread dense fog was reported across coastal San Diego County on November 15. A brush fire was reported near Desert Hot Springs in the early morning hours on November 11.
