Event narrative

Thermal tied the high temperature record for November 11, reaching a high of 92 degrees, tying the previous record set in 1973. Three sites in the Coachella Valley broke their highest minimum temperature record for November; Palm Springs recorded a low temperature of 69 degrees, breaking the previous record of 65 degrees set in 1934; Indio recorded a low of 69, breaking the previous record of 65 set in 1988; Borrego recorded a low of 63 degrees, breaking the previous record of 62 set in 2003.

Palm Springs broke the daily high temperature record for November 14 reaching a high of 93 degrees, breaking the previous record of 92 degrees set in 2007.

Wider weather episode

The fifth Santa Ana wind episode of the season and record heat were recorded November 11-16. Also, widespread dense fog was reported across coastal San Diego County on November 15. A brush fire was reported near Desert Hot Springs in the early morning hours on November 11.
