Event narrative
Lorain Harbor Light C-MAN Station (LORO1) recorded a peak sustained wind of 63 mph.
Wider weather episode
A potent surface low deepened, overall, as it moved northeastward from northern Lower Michigan to northern Quebec between the late morning of December 11th and early morning of the 12th. Simultaneously, a tight surface pressure gradient affected Lake Erie. The low's trailing cold front swept eastward across Lake Erie during the late morning through early afternoon of the 11th. The tight surface pressure gradient contributed to strong southwesterly to westerly winds along and especially behind the cold front during the late morning through evening of the 11th. Several stations along the Ohio lakeshore recorded storm-force peak sustained winds.
