A strong low pressure system passing just north of Michigan's upper peninsula brought heavy, wet snow and wind gusts in excess of 40mph at times to the area beginning the morning of 12-5. A large swath of 6-8 of snow fell in a matter of several hours through the afternoon with the highest totals in excess of 10 falling in Chippewa, Crawford, Oscoda, and Alpena counties.
