A cold front brought a line of showers that swept through the Lower Texas Coast. A peak gust of 35 knots was recorded Buoy 42020 (42020) between 8:30PM and 8:50PM CST.

Note: The measured wind gust of 35 knots is equivalent to 40 mph.

Wider weather episode

A strong cold front plowed through the Lower Texas Coast the evening of January 9th. A line of showers and thunderstorms developed along the cold front as it marched south and brought several observations meeting Marine Thunderstorm Winds criteria of gale-force gusts to area waters.
