Event narrative

KCTB measured a 52 kt (60 mph) non-thunderstorm wind gust.

Wider weather episode

A series of Pacific shortwaves moving within strong westerly flow aloft brought periods of strong surface winds to the Northern Rockies. The strongest and most consistent winds occurred along the Rocky Mountain Front and the north-central plains, but southwestern areas managed to reach criteria levels as well. H700 winds of 40 to 50 kts as lee side troughing east of the Divide maintained a strong surface pressure gradient. The most widespread surface wind gusts at or over 50 kts occurred on November 13th.
