Event narrative

A vehicle caused a chain reaction collision when it rammed into the back of a couple cars stopped at a traffic light at Highway 111 and Jasper Road. Three were injured in the collision, with the driver of the vehicle hit first succumbing to their injuries after being taken to the hospital. Visibility was near zero in dense fog and reportedly as low as five feet at the time of the collision.

Wider weather episode

Dense fog spread into the Imperial Valley in the morning of the 7th, with visibility falling to a quarter of a mile or less. A multi-vehicle collision, involving three cars, occurred in the northern city limits of Calexico. Three people were injured in the collision and another succumbed to their injuries after being taken to the hospital.
