Numerous trained spotter reports came in ranging from 5.5 to 7.7 inches. The 7.7 inch report was from Merrick along the south shore. Numerous reports of over 6 inches came in closer to the water along the south shore which included Baldwin, Seaford, and Massapequa which were both trained spotter and public reports.
Wider weather episode
Coastal low pressure along the polar front developed in response to an upper level disturbance. This result in an moderate snowfall across the interior sections of the Lower Hudson Valley, with heavier snow across more southern and southeastern locations.
