A wind sensor on Highway 260 (and Highway 273) at an elevation of 9124 feet had a peak wind gust of 70 MPH at 353 AM. The winds gusted over 58 MPH from 230 AM to 820 AM. Greens Peak had a peak wind gust of Greens Peak 61 MPH at 409 AM (10,118 feet) with gust above 58 MPH between 230 to 415 AM.

Wider weather episode

A shortwave trough moved across Arizona with a with a low- level jet maximum. This brought strong surface winds to much of the state.
