A waterspout moved across Gasparilla Sound near Boca Grande Causeway before moving ashore near Placida as a short-lived EF-1 tornado with peak winds estimated around 110 mph, where it damaged at least 35 homes and caused an estimated total of around $500 thousand USD in damages.

A strong cold front and line of storms moved across the west Florida coastal waters during the early morning producing multiple strong marine wind gusts and waterspouts that would move ashore causing significant damage.
