Severe drought ended across Grundy County by the middle of May as generous spring-time rainfall persisted in central Iowa.

Despite an increase in rainfall, the long duration of the drought kept severe drought conditions over Grundy County through the end of April.

Precipitation during the month of March did increase across Grundy county with amounts near normal. There was some minor improvement in drought conditions but severe drought continued through the end of the month.

Above normal temperatures and below normal precipitation allowed severe to extreme drought conditions to persist across Grundy county.
