A car was washed off of Crooked Creek Road in the northern part of the county. Four people were swept away into the creek and lost their lives.
Strong winds of 40 to 50 miles per hour were sustained for several hours. Gusts over 60 mph were common. Widespread damage occurred across the region, from trees being blown down on powerlines to significant structural damage.
